Barn-style sliding doors history
Barn-style sliding doors can be functional exterior coverings for large entrances to barns or garages, or sliding interior design statements that bring traditional country elements into urban or suburban environments. One advantage of a barn door is that it slides against the wall, so it does not block when opened (like a pocket door, but does not require a hole in the wall). The advantage of the outdoor sliding barn door is that it can be opened without being dug out of the snow in bad weather, but it can be heavy to slide. Normally, sliding barn doors are much lighter than traditional doors, so they don't distort the tracks.
