Polishing process
Polishing is a kind of processing technology on the surface of stainless steel. We have two kinds of surface treatment which is satin and polished finish. Satin brushed is to make the surface of stainless steel produce regular line feeling, and the mirror is to make the stainless steel surface as clear as the mirror.
There are also two kinds of polishing process we commonly used.1. Automatic polishing. 2. hand polishing.
Automatic polishing: good smoothness and brightly surface, high working intensity ,but heavily polluted, simple workpiece , small and medium-sized products can not be processed ,gloss reduced, high investment and cost and the gloss can not remain a long time.
Hand polishing: for polished finish, it can remain a long time and also suitable for complex workpiece and high grade small and medium-size products, easy to operate. And process is stable which the gloss can remain a long time, the products can be mass production. Less pollution and low cost, it can be widely used.
There are five steps to process with our 304# stainless steel products: firstly we use 80# (or 60#) sand belt to remove the surface, then use 100# sand belt to make it flat, then use 180# sand belt to make the surface smoothly, 300# sand belt to bring out the gloss, and finally use sponge wheel to remove the sand hole. And for the polished products, on the basis of 3 times sand belts, and use 2160# sand belt to make the surface smoothly, then use hemp wheel (add purple wax) to remove sand hole and scratches, again use cloth wheel (add green candle or white wax) to bring out the gloss. Our satin finish products look bright, and there will not have sand hole from visual inspection within 300mm. The service life of polished finish products will be one year longer than satin finish products. it passes through high temperature evaporation and the acidity and alkalinity in the wax is sealed, high resistance to acid and alkali.
Both hand and automatic polishing have their own advantages and cannot be replaced, so we use the combination of automatic polishing machine and hand polishing. This makes our stainless steel closer to perfection.
